Grammatical competence is a defining feature of language proficiency and an important component of teaching and learning for adult language learners. Teachers of English to adult learners need both a knowledge of grammar forms, functions and use and the skills to effectively address the development of grammatical competence of adult learners of English. This course prepares future teachers of English to effectively teach grammar to adult learners of English in a range of pedagogical contexts. This 3-credit course is required for completion of the TESOL Certificate and counts as undergraduate degree credits. Undergraduate students not pursuing a TESOL Certificate or who have not completed the required courses may enrol with permission of the TESOL Certificate Program Coordinator.Pre-requisite or Co-requisite: AP/TESL 3200 6.00
Course Start Up
Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website. Course materials begin to be released on the course website during the first week. To log in to your eClass course visit the York U eClass Portal and login with your Student Passport York Account. If you are creating and participating in Zoom meetings you may also go directly to the York U Zoom Portal.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
