This course examines how gender and sexuality are constructed in popular culture, focusing on how media reflects and shapes social values, power structures, and identity. Using feminist, queer, and intersectional approaches, students critically analyze a range of cultural texts-such as film, music, zines, and social media-while exploring the role of media in both reinforcing and resisting dominant ideologies. Course credit exclusions: AP/GWST2511 6.00, GL/GWST 2511 6.00.PRIOR TO FALL 2013: Course credit exclusions: AP/WMST 1510 6.00, GL/WMST 1510 6.00.Previously offered as AP/GWST 2511 6.00.
