This course provides research and clinical perspectives on developmental and acquired communication disorders. The causes and consequences of the disorders are examined, including their phonological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic characteristics. The implications of such features for assessment and treatment of communication disorders are also considered. Prerequisites: LING 2200 3.00 (Introduction to Speech and Language Sciences); PSYC 2010 3.00 (Developmental Psychology); at least six credits in LING at the third-year level with grades of C+ or better.Open to: Students in the Speech and Language Sciences Program.
