This course introduces the topic of Indigenous rights and resistance in a global context from a decolonial perspective. It explores the struggle Indigenous peoples face with neoliberalism, resource extraction, and environmental racism, and surveys Indigenous resistance to colonialism, ethnocide, and genocide, examining the role the Universal Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples plays in advancing and constraining human rights.Course credit exclusion: SOSC 1960 6.00 Indigenous Resistance in Global ContextsNote: Approved SOSC General Education course for AP. This course will not count for major credit in HREQ.
