Does God exist? Can religious belief be explained away? What is the relationship between faith and reason? Through a selection of classic readings, this course provides a survey of some central topics in the philosophy of religion.

This course explores the idea of religion on a global scale, from a philosophical perspective. A variety of philosophies characteristic of major world religions will be explored.
Readings are free to students enrolled in the course via Moodle.
Participation: 40 %
Essay: 30 %
Final Exam: 30 %
With the exception of the final exam and an in-tutorial commentary, the class assignments are to be submitted to Moodle. All enrolled students should familiarize themselves with the class Moodle cite. There are two non Moodle assignments: (a) one page commentary to be written in the tutorial of week 6 and (b) the final exam. All other commentaries and the one essay assignment are submitted via Moodle.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term. The exceptions to the rule are classes which regularly meet Friday evenings or on Saturday and/or Sunday at any time, and courses offered in the compressed summer terms. - Academic Accommodation for Students with Disabilities
